We want to live in a world where forests and rivers flourish. Where once endangered species have returned, it is safe to drink water from the river and the oceans are full of life. Where communities value and protect nature.
Environmental organizations all around the world are working with communities that act to protect life in and along the water. Makara connects them to Dutch parties with additional expertise. Makara connects them to Dutch parties with additional expertise.
We work with environmental organizations and local communities in Asia that act for forest conservation and against river pollution. For example, with forest restoration projects, measuring water quality with community science tools and cleaning up plastic waste.
We switch from Asia to the Netherlands and back again. Initiatives that protect the local ecosystem and come from the local community offer the best prospects for successful change. When supported by local policies, they become part of solutions for future generations. That is why we always look for cooperation with local authorities.
